Canterbury Earthquake (Reserves Legislation) Order (No 2) 2011

The purpose of the Order is to repeal and replace the Canterbury Earthquake (Reserves Legislation) Order 2011, to extend the timeframe for powers provided to councils to permit reserves to be used for earthquake response and recovery efforts. Extends the ability to use reserve land for response and recovery efforts past March 2012. Provides councils with the power to permit reserve land to be used for the placement of temporary accommodation and other earthquake response activities, such as the processing of demolition waste. The Review Panel made a recommendation to the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery, the Minister of Housing and the Minister for Conservation on the draft Order on 28 September 2011. The joint letter from the Department of Building and Housing and the Department of Conservation dated 27 September 2011 contains information about the draft Order that the Review Panel considered in making its report and recommendation. Date in force/expires 7 November 2011/ 19 April 2016.
