Canterbury Earthquake (Transport Legislation) Amendment Order 2011

Provides a means to permit the operation of heavy vehicles from Australia or Canada as part of the recovery effort. Heavy vehicles registered in and imported from Australia and Canada can operate without the need to comply with distance licence requirements under the Road User Charges Act 1977 or the requirements of Accident Compensation (Motor Vehicle Account Levies) Regulations 2010. The Review Panel made a recommendation to the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery and the Minister of Transport on the draft Order on 20 May 2011. The Ministry of Transport letter of 17 May 2011 contains information about the draft Order that the Review Panel considered in making its report and recommendation.
